About me

Hi there, my name is Isabela. Some people call me Iya, too.

I’m a writer, designer and a creative storyteller based in Ontario, Canada. Much like the books I enjoy reading, my life journey is a book with chapters of growth, learning and discovery.

Currently, I work as a UX Content Designer for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC). In my role, I build digital human-centred experiences through producing clear, concise, accessible and inclusive content.

Outside my corporate life, I’m passionate about storytelling in all its forms, creating art, reading books and travelling to new places.

Before discovering UX, I was studying at the University of Toronto, St. George, and finished a degree in B.A English Literature, Book and Media Studies, and Women and Gender Studies. My intensive academic research and writing experience heightened my love for communication. I owe much of my learnings to my experience at The Mike, MNERVA Literary Journal, Her Campus U Toronto, and The Foolscap Journal.

As a lifelong learner, I went back to school to complete a Graphic Design and Visual Communication Skills Certificate at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD). My love for research and design inspired me to return to my alma mater where I studied a bootcamp program on UX Research and UI Design.

Creating my own website has been a lifelong dream. I hope my stories and art inspire, comfort during tough times, and bring you joy.
